How to play MOD files on Adobe Flash Player on Mac

"Hi!

I have a hard disk camcorder that imports the videos onto my MAC as .MOD files. Problem is nothing on my MAC recognizes this format. I have been reading and googling for the past 2 hours on how to convert and there are many programs out there to purchase and download. This scares me! Is there any conversion software that MAC has, or any easy way to do this? I needed to have a video done to play on Adobe Flash Player built-in YouTube, FaceBook, Hulu that kind and thought it would be so easy since I heard YouTube is a dream and quick to broadcast with. How the heck is it so easy if I can not even get my movies to be recognized.

Please Help!"
